  2. Confirm that you opened the intended city.
  3. Read the phase name together with illumination rather than using either value alone.

Important details

  • Illumination is the approximate percentage of the Moon’s visible disk that is sunlit.
  • Visibility also depends on moonrise, weather, horizon, and local light pollution.
  • The Moon section follows the date and time selected on World Clock. Tap Now to return to the current moment.
  • Read moonrise and moonset in the city’s local time. Some dates have no moonrise or no moonset; this does not necessarily indicate an error. When a previous moonrise is shown, check its day as well as its time. No recent moonrise means no recent rise is available to display.
  • Sky Path shows the sun and moon positions for the selected moment.
